The former HSS Hire Store on Mitcham Road contributes little to the local area. The design of our new building has been carefully crafted to fit in better with neighbouring buildings, improving the appearance of the street.
The current commercial nature of the site will be kept on the ground floor. 22 new homes will be included above and in a new L-shaped extension that will stretch down Byton Road. More than three quarters of the flats will be two or three bedroom homes.
The new building fronting Byton Road will enhance the appearance of this part of the street, replacing the old open storage yard with an attractive residential building. We hope that this will enhance life in the neighbourhood and help to meet local housing needs. Affordable housing will be provided subject to viability.
